Critical role in largest group of small Commonwealth agency

Our client is small, dynamic and fully cost-recovered Commonwealth agency located in Belconnen. They are looking for a mature, experienced professional accountant to work within their largest group (budget ~$15 million) to manage, report on and control all financial matters.

With key relationships across the organisation including to the CFO and COO and a direct report to the SES Band 1 Executive Manager, they require an experienced, mature professional who has strong communication skills and analytical nouse.

The successful applicant will be tasked with:

- Ensuring compliance with Financial management framework & risk
- Managing monthly management reporting, budgeting and coordinating flow of financial accounting
- Liaising with Cost centre managers to ensure accuracy of of financial reporting and to assist with the interpretation of financial information
- Ensuring best practice financial procedures are adhered to and maintained
- Liaising with corporate finance on all key financial matter

As well as a range of projects that include:

- Reigning in Budget controls
- Building better management reporting for the group
- Assiting the development of performance reporting and KPI reporting
- Working on business improvement planning and implementation
- Preparation of new funding proposals/business cases including costings

Commencing as a 6 or 12 month non-ongoing contract our client will consider temporary or permanent transfers as well as strong suitable applicants from the private sector.

Salary: ~$78 - $85K + Super neg.
