How do I search for a job?

There are two job search tools that you can use on CapitalJobs.com.au – Quick Search and Advanced Search. Quick Search is available from the home page of CapitalJobs.com.au. This search relies on matching keywords to deliver search results. For example, if you are looking for a ‘receptionist’ job, then entering the term ‘receptionist’ will return search results that contain that keyword. The Advanced Search function gives you greater control of your job search and allows you to filter jobs by type, status and location. To use this function, click the Advanced Search link in the top menu bar or beneath the Quick Search box. Set the parameters that you wish to search by and hit ‘Search’.

How do I apply for a job (or access other CapitalJobs.com.au functions)?

To apply for a job on CapitalJobs.com.au, it is necessary to establish a free job seeker account. Opening a Job Seeker account with CapitalJobs.com.au provides you with access to a variety of services which will assist you with your job search, including the ability to: apply for jobs through the website; add jobs to your own ‘hot jobs’ list; upload your CV, enabling employers to find you; and configure saved searches and email alerts, enabling you to receive information about relevant vacancies direct to your inbox. To create a Job Seeker account, click on the My Account link in the top navigation bar. You will be required to complete and submit a short online form. Shortly after, you will receive an email containing a confirmatory link – you must click this link to activate your account. This procedure ensures that your email address is correct and stops other people from registering an account with your email address (either deliberately or accidentally).

I am unable to confirm my job seeker account because I didn’t receive a confirmation email. What should I do?

Unfortunately we've had some difficulties delivering our confirmation emails to Hotmail, Live.com, Gmail and other web-based email accounts. This is something that we don't have any control over, as these services use filtering technology to render these emails as spam. We’re currently investigating ways to improve our delivery rates to web-based email accounts. If possible, you should try and use an alternate email address – eg. A work email address or an ISP email address – as these are more likely to work correctly with CapitalJobs.com.au.

I’ve lost my password. What do I do now?

Use the ‘Forgotten your password’ function on our Job Seeker Login Page and you will be sent your password via email.

How do I get jobs emailed to me?

One of the most useful features for job seekers is the ability to add ‘saved searches’ to your account and configure them as email alerts. The results of your ‘saved search’ will be emailed to you on a scheduled basis – even daily, if you wish. To configure an email alert, login to your Job Seeker My Account page and click the link to specify a new email alert. Complete the saved search form and hit ‘Submit’.

How do I search for a job in a particular locality?

If you wish to search for a job in a particular locality – eg. Belconnen, Cooma, Batemans Bay – then simply add these terms to the ‘keywords’ field in the Quick or Advanced Search functions and hit ‘Search’.

I applied for a job, but nobody got back to me. Can you help me?

CapitalJobs.com.au is generally not able to assist with issues that exist between the advertiser and the job seeker. Whether you are contacted in relation to a particular application is the prerogative of the advertiser. Where there are many applications made for a particular vacancy, it is possible that you will not be contacted at all by the advertiser.

Why do job categories disappear from the CapitalJobs.com.au home page from time to time?

You will notice that some of the categories on home page sometimes disappear. But they haven’t disappeared altogether - it's just that there are no current jobs in that category on the website. If there are no jobs in that category, then the category will not appear on the CapitalJobs.com.au home page. When an advertiser creates a new job in that category, then it will appear on the front page again.

How do I remove my job seeker account?

You can remove your CapitalJobs.com.au at any time by logging in and selecting Remove your Account on the My Account page.
